We returned to GFI Studios exactly one year after our first trip there. This time we arrived primed and ready to mix our debut album. Unfortunately, the mixing process was plagued by equipment problems, failures, and errors. What should have taken 7 days ended up taking 10. I think it probably hit Saby the hardest, because he was the one who had to bear the brunt of all the troubles while Scott, Rick, and I sat in the lounge playing PS2. On January 11th, ten days and countless headaches later, we recorded the background vocals and mixed our last track, Forest Hills Girl. Over the course of the 10 days we debated different album titles and eventually settled upon Yellow #5, drawing from a number of influences. *future link to recording logs and pictures from this session* |
